∆ DELTUM community and culture

Edition 0.1Discuss on Discord

∆ DELTUM can develop as a community of interest, a space for joint research and practice, a movement and a subculture. None of these forms has to become the single official definition.

What unites participants

The shared bearing is an interest in self-sovereignty, metaintelligence, adaptability, subjecthood and widening the space of the possible. Participants may come from different fields: art, science, technology, education, public work or everyday practice.

There is no requirement to share the same way of life, political position, worldview or set of methods. Belonging to ∆ is not evidence of intellectual or personal superiority.

Forms of participation

  • Discussing concepts and asking questions.
  • Publishing texts, notes, research and objections.
  • Sharing tools and experience.
  • Creating projects, forming small groups.
  • Testing approaches under acceptable and safe conditions.
  • Taking part in developing the visual and cultural environment of DELTUM.

Each of these ways is sufficient on its own. Activity and frequency of posting are not criteria of belonging.

Atmosphere and communication

A living environment depends on freedom to disagree, precision of wording, respect for personal boundaries, the possibility of asking simple questions and acknowledging one's own mistakes. Harsh criticism of ideas is compatible with care for people.

Not encouraged: harassment, humiliation, pressure to disclose personal experience, pressure in the name of "development", and claims to an exclusive right to decide who fits ∆ well enough.

Symbol and belonging

The sign ∆ can be used as a concise way to signal a connection with the community. It is not a mark of rank, initiation or obligation. A participant has the right to rethink their relationship with the community and to stop taking part.

Visual consistency makes recognition easier but should not limit diversity of content. See identity.

Criticism of the community

Anti-dogmatism matters only when it extends to real decisions, rules and public texts. Proposals for change should be considered on their merits; disagreeing with particular theses does not make a person an outsider.

Organisational procedures may appear as the community grows. They are worth describing separately, openly and with the possibility of revision. This document establishes no hidden hierarchy and no permanent powers.
